Construction is the quick part in EV fast charging projects. A few weeks of trenching, foundations, and equipment installation is all that's needed for a given site.
The slow part is the utility. It has to review the request, study grid impact, and, if the site's electrical service isn't sized for it, schedule a transformer upgrade. That step is routinely the longest in the project, and everything downstream waits on it.
Something unexpected shows up on nearly every project. We've built enough EV charging sites to know what that something usually is, and to get ahead of it before it costs you time.
Some sites already have enough electrical capacity for DC fast charging, so no upgrade is needed at all. For sites that don't, the transformer upgrade is usually what triggers the long utility wait.
This is where battery-backed design earns its keep. The battery buffers peak draw, so at many sites the utility-side upgrade needed is smaller than what the site's charging demand alone would require.
Progress on an interconnection or permit application often comes down to who follows up, and how often. Our project managers stay in direct, ongoing contact with utility staff and permitting officials throughout.
Conduit routing, panel capacity, inspection scheduling: rarely the headline risk on a project, but where timelines quietly slip. Our implementation team ensures these items don't cause delays.
Every charger and battery unit is tested end-to-end at our facility before it ships. A problem is far easier, and cheaper, to resolve on our bench than in your parking lot.
We've run enough of these projects to know where things tend to go wrong, and we watch for it at every stage. Most issues get caught and resolved before they ever affect your timeline.
